Bio

I live in Austin, TX, with my partner of 17.5 years. We got married on Aug. 4 in San Diego. On Nov. 4, California voters put our marriage in some unknown state. (Heh. Inadvertent puns are always the best kind.) Not that whatever state the marriage is in counts for anything in Texas anyway.

We have two great dogs and three cats. OK, three great cats. At 14, Bub is the old man of the house. Next is Domino, who will be four soon. Dusty will be three in March. Flynn will turn two in April. Addy will turn one in May.

I’m a dog person. Mel is a cat person. Somehow, she ended up with a dog who adores her (Dusty) and I ended up with a cat who seems to tolerate me a tad more than anyone else (Flynn). Domino is my baby. Addy is everyone’s baby. Bub is our CRF boy who has survived a lot longer than we expected.

We live in an ugly fixer-upper in South Austin. We have 22 years left on the mortgage.

I love puns. I love dry wit. I love corny jokes. I love stand-up comedy. I’ve always said that the day my sense of humor abandons me is the day I die. The last eight years have taken their toll on my sense of humor, and not just because of the political situation.

In that time, we’ve lost two cats and one dog. We have also had one brain surgery, one gamma knife radiation, two knee surgeries, and one complete hysterectomy. One of us was told to put her affairs in order. Fortunately, the affair-ordering order was extremely premature and everything is fine now.
